Redsnow is easy to use, it is available for Windows and Mac OS. Pwnagetool can be used to create custom ipsw and preserve baseband, it supports Mac OS only.
Ultrasn0w doesn’t work on iOS 4.3.1 yet (even with iOS 4.3.1 + old baseband). The fix will be available soon. Here’s a warning from DevTeam for unlockers:
MuscleNerd, a hacker from DevTeam, recently published a screenshot of anticipated jailbreak utility PwnageTool 4.1. It will support iOS 4.1 and will be able to preserve old baseband for unlockers, who have not updated to iOS 4.1.

New PwnageTool was expected to be released last weekend, however it was delayed.
MuscleNerd from DevTeam has posted a video preview of the new PwnageTool upcoming release. The new PwnageTool will use Geohot’s Limera1n exploit and will let users who need unlock to obtain it. Here’s MuscleNerd message from twitter:

The release of PwnageTool is scheduled for this Sunday.
When asked about PwnageTool, MuscleNerd said via twitter “they can compile now for wxwidgets for redsn0w 0.9, so pwnagetool port can be based on this”, “and so that means, pwnagetool port for windows and linux. For OSX it’s all on @wizdaz of course ”
PwnageTool lets you build custom ipsw files which can include personalized boot logos as well as automatic installation of applications. There is also project called Sn0wBreeze, a port of PwnageTool to Windows. However a port from DevTeam is of course more preferrable.

MuscleNerd, a member of the Dev-Team, has announced via twitter the release of the new version of PwnageTool.
The software will be able to create a custom firmware 3.1.2 to jailbreak and unlock iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch and iPod Touch 2G. As stated everything would be ready soon and the tests performed were positive.
